Lines Study

Aims and Objective of the project

For the purpose of enhancing the visual impact, and to assist further development of graphic design, for new design philosophy will be explored. The project has three aims:
To investigate the potential of the use pattern in graphic design.
To develop a personal approach to the design within relevant areas.
To create theoretical or practical outcomes based on the findings of the research.

Methodology
Stage one of the research will consist of a survey and evaluation of existing pattern design. This will be conducted to identify and analyze theoretical, visual and factual information, use journal and books (not just web). Explore a repeat system to explain, in visual terms, how a unit or motif can be developed through a series of repeat organizations to produce an infinite number of pattern variations.
Stage two will overlap with stage one and is concerned with developing of new approaches to the use of pattern in graphic design. The establishment of a system where new ideas and possibilities are evolved creates that sense of excitement and expectancy which should be an intrinsic part of visual research and development. Analysis is then possible to determine how the resulting patterns can be further modified or extended, depending on how the units are exploited.
Stage three of the research will take the form of producing patterns to test approaches to graphic design. The complex and critical subject of elements, which is beyond the scope of this project, is – together with repeat – an essential element that must be considered when developing ideas, as it can greatly affect the resulting pattern. The final production can be a book that combines theory and practice together which designed for graphic designer to follow. It also can be a motion video that gives sense of beauty and emotion.
